The founder of the brand came up with this venture idea while working on construction projects for big food chains in Colombia. It was there that he saw the success of the food distribution industry and realized that people are constantly in need of food and seeking out high-quality, healthy products.

Because of this, Tierra Tienda was established in 2017 as a marketer of premium foods geared toward individuals who enjoy eating well. It was intended to be a substitute company that would supply office cafeterias with high-quality products for employees who were searching for variety and economy. Because of the success of this idea, its owners searched in Miami for strategic partners and began selling its goods and services under the Tree of Life brand in the various Latin shops located there and in the surrounding areas. The company started to expand gradually until the pandemic hit in 2020, when this branch had to close its doors.

In 2020, during the pandemic, Tierra Tienda reorganized its operations and seized the opportunity to reach Bogota residents by offering direct home delivery. People did not have enough time to work from home, take care of their children, take care of household chores, and prepare meals; which gave this venture a great business opportunity. Slowly, many food producers from different cities of the country joined the venture, which allowed Tierra Tienda to offer a better and wider variety of options to consumers.

The owner and his wife decided to settle in Ontario Canada after observing the inventiveness and success of the business, search for a Canadian partner and establish what is today known as Cocoa & Fruits; a distributor that focuses in importing Colombian products, reaching the market by supplying Latin Stores mainly in Ontario and Quebec, and seeking to reach Canadian Supermarkets.
